Burst Testing Machines:
In addition to Cycle testing, manufactures often need proof that their products exceed NSF/ANSI structural performance standards at the highest pressures. Production manufactured parts and assemblies often need to be verified that they are capable of surviving unusual and excessive pressures and remain leak proof both in the laboratory design stage, but also during the high volume manufacture of production lots.
Destructive burst testing subjects an individual part to a ramping pressure profile often exceeding the design requirement. Once the part fails, the exact pressure is recorded as well as its expansion displacement. We manufacture custom burst testers which allow manufactures to verify production lots are manufactured consistently and also helps the designer develop new products that can survive extreme environment conditions for the lowest production cost.
While developing burst-resistant polymer water filters in freezing conditions, Fritze Dezein engineered a burst testing technology which could characterize the amount and rate of the stretching filter housing as it expands during a burst event. This technology can be used to monitor the brittle or ductile type of failure mode of a polymer filter while recording the actual burst pressure.
A typical burst test uses water to provide a pressure profile such as a ramping from 0 to 1000 psi within 10 seconds. Our burst tester creates this consistent water pressure profile using a special Pneumatic Hydraulic Intensifier, which also measures the exact amount of water used to expand the part during each test. The burst tester can be programmed to identify the amount of deformation the test part is experiencing and then determine when that instant occurs to capture that pressure at failure.
The burst tester automates the entire testing process with a push of a button to; flush, ramp with pressure, identify instant of failure, and end the test.
Our machines have lasted decades and we have used that experience to provide practical features and technology to automate the burst testing process with safe and easy to keep clean equipment. The burst tester can also be used in remote environmental chambers to operate the test parts at high and low temperatures as desired
